ok, devotions.,

Prepare - Why not find a quiet place – somewhere you’re not going to be interrupted. Yes! Shut the ‘world’ out... Now be still and silent in the presence of God.

16 When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, they answered the king:“What share do we have in David, what part in Jesse’s son?To your tents, O Israel!Look after your own house, O David!”1 Kings 12:1-20 (NIV)

'I have heard of Christians who use today’s text to resist the involvement and contribution of young people in the strategic development and direction of the local church. Their excuse is that they fear the young people will offer bad advice which will result in a loss of favour with God. However, it is worth reminding ourselves that it is adults who are primarily responsible for wars, genocide, economic failures, the sex industry and domestic violence!
The issue, therefore, is not merely between good and bad counsel, since genuine and reasonable counsel could have unexpected consequences. It is about gratuitous self-seeking counsel, which has evil intent (vs 10,11). The counsel given in today’s passage had disastrous consequences (vs 15–20).Good counsel offers hope. It helps us make good judgements and affirms our humanity, identity and value before God. It strengthens our character and ensures that we do not violate God’s law. I often remind my friends that the Bible does say, ‘For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers ’ (Proverbs 11:14).On the other hand, gratuitous counsel promotes strife, undermines trust and ignores justice. It is selfish and self-seeking, often ignoring the consequences.'

'Pray for those in authority over you, that they may receive and respond to good counsel.'

ps..oh yeah..thats a pic of my hols in genting:)
